Fire / Smoke Assessments

QUEST Environmental partners with property owners, remediation contractors, and insurers to design fire and smoke investigations that fit each client’s needs. Fire events can leave behind a wide range of contaminants, from soot, char, and ash in range fires to volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds in building or vehicle fires. These residues can deposit on building materials, furnishings, and personal contents.

Our process begins with a visual inspection to identify signs of smoke contamination. We then monitor indoor air quality for trace gases and volatile organic compounds, and collect air and surface samples for key fire indicators. Once we understand the extent of damage, we develop a site-specific remediation plan. At your request, our team can also meet on site with your restoration contractor to guide the clean-up. The final step includes a post-remediation inspection and clearance sampling to confirm the property has been restored to pre-fire conditions.

QUEST has extensive experience supporting insurance companies with fire and smoke damage claims. By targeting only the impacted areas and developing project-specific clearance criteria in advance, we make remediation projects more efficient, cost-effective, and transparent for property owners, contractors, insurers, and all stakeholders.
